5K and 10K Group Run – a run not a race!

Saturday 7th December – Our First Group Run to fundraise for Sue Ryder! 5k or 10k

We had a fabulous turnout for our first group on Saturday 7th December 2013! We raised £140 for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Hospice – Well Done Everyone :)Thank you to everyone who came.

Here are the routes we covered:

5k ROUTE http://www.mapometer.com/running/route_3741399.html

10k ROUTE http://www.mapometer.com/running/route_3741557.htmlDSC_0083

The emphasis was completing the distance we chose and to enjoy it, without the pressure of racing it! However, everyone pushed themselves to where they felt challenged but comfortable.

Helen Yarnold (www.yourhappysize.co.uk)  was a superstar in organising the 5k and Kirsty led the 10k. Everyone stayed in groups of at least 2 or 3 and helped each other round.

Massive thanks to Oobaloos Photography who came and took some shots for us 🙂

A few words of those who took part…

“Didn’t think I would be able to run the whole way, but was much easier in a group than on my own” Nat Stow

“Good fun, really relaxed, great motivation and I want to do it again” Catherine Hoyte

“‘Not been a runner, I was apprehensive about completing the 5k however, it was a super friendly, even-paced run. Everyone kept together and motivated each other which made it lots of fun!’ Lindsey Ingle

“I was worried about running the 10k at first as I hadn’t run that distance before and was out of practice. The friendly atmosphere of the group run made the kms pass quickly and before I knew it we were nearly done! It has boosted my confidence in my running ability as I completed the route in under 1 hour. I really enjoyed the morning and I’m now looking forward to the next Parkfit run!” Zoe Cocksedge

Hope to see you all at the next Group Run on Sunday 4th January, 10am at Pittville Pump Rooms. Book in on the Events at www.trainwithkirsty.co.uk
